How to properly tow your snowmobile trailers

Snowmobile trailers are heavy-duty vehicles that can facilitate the transportation of snowmobiles and other ATV’s for that matter. They can be simply hoisted at the back of your trailers and you’re off to go. If you have a snowmobile and you are planning to take it with you to your dream vacation spot, here are some cool tips to help properly tow your snowmobile. As a preparation for this fun filled adventure you must first check out your snowmobile and make sure it’s in good working condition. Check the brakes, oil seals, tracks and the like; when it’s ready it’s time for you to hoist it up in your snowmobile trailer. Snowmobile trailers can carry up to two snowmobiles at a time. Just make sure that you have the proper license to haul one or more snowmobiles at a time.

Here are some tips on how to properly tow your snowmobile:

1.    Make sure that you have a safety chains or cables attached to your snowmobile trailer as a safety precaution in case the other primary ball hitch fails.

2.    Your snowmobile trailers should have proper signal lights. The standard signal light is tail light, signal lights, brake lights, side markers, and turn lights.

3.    Tie the straps properly, secure the rods tightly and clamps that are holding the snowmobile securely.

4.    Be sure to load the snowmobiles properly so that they will not pose any harm to fellow drivers on the road. To do so, make sure that your snowmobile trailer is the correct length for your snowmobile so that it will not exceed the maximum width requirements of the snowmobile trailer.

5.    Make sure that the rail center and tie downs are functioning properly.
 
6.    Check if the locks are properly lubricated.

7.    Check your parking brakes to ensure they are properly working.

8.    Also check the fit of the tow bars, make sure they are snugly fit and tight
.
9.    As you tow your snowmobiles be sure to check the bars, chains and the bolts whenever you make some stops. See to it that they are still properly fitted to the tow bars and the trailer.

10.    Set up your vehicle's steering and transmission into tow. Make sure that your vehicle is in proper condition for the trip.

11.    Your safety precaution gears should be within easy reach, spare tire, jacks and tire iron should be in their proper places and never leave without them in your truck.

12.    Drive safely and keep in mind that your truck is towing another vehicle. So be a cautious driver and drive carefully.

Then lastly, make sure that your snowmobile, trailer and vehicle are properly secured to deter thieves. If possible install an alarm and locks on the snowmobile and vehicle to avoid theft. Record pertinent documents such as engines serial numbers and license plate and keep it safe with you or in a safe place. It is worth the fuss to make sure that you and your family are safe and secure to enjoy the adventure and excitement of your dream vacation.
